As some of you may know, Eric has a baby sister, Rose. She's healthy except for a slight heart murmur. The cardiologist says she'll probably never need surgery or meds for it. The problem is that she spits up CONSTANTLY. She goes through 3-4 outfits most days and has made so many stains on the carpet I have Stanley Steemer's phone number memorized. I've tried everything-small frequent feedings, Dr Brown bottles, AR formula, no luck with any of it. She's seen two different dr's, one a ped and one a family practitioner. Both said not to worry about it as long as she's gaining weight, just wait and she'd grow out of it eventually. She's 10 months old and no end in sight. Do you think it's worth contacting the children's hospital where we take Eric and seeing a pediatric GI specialist? I've tried fifty billion times to get her regular doc to prescribe something for reflux, but she won't because of side effects. It never seems to bother Rose or cause pain, most of the time it just comes up. Sometimes she burps first and sometimes it just happens, but all that acid can't possibly be good for her throat. What would you do?

It wouldn't hurt to see a GI doc. Our oldest Faith (now 5) has problems with reflux since birth. She is still on meds for it and everytime we try to take her off she goes right back to her symptoms. She was never a huge spit up kid so every kid is different but I know she is miserable when not on her meds.
Good luck whatever you do.
My oldest Brooke- spit up as a baby, and then threw up 4-5times a week till she was eight...My ped said she would outgrow it.. she didn't. When my insurance changed and I didnt need the referral to take her, She was diagnosed with GERD- and the GI was very concerned about the acid wear on her esophagus. Now she is on prevacid- and has no problems.
When my 8year old was an infant and started the same thing, and Joseph also- I had them both put on Prevacid also.-- I wasn't going to go through the whole mess again. I would have her seen by a GI doc- The sooner treatment begins the better- and if she doesn't have any problems- at least you know.

I too would take her to a GI Dr... Ayden no longer really has reflux or GERD, but we are still on prevacid b/c he has episodes about 3-4x a week. We have had to go off of the prevacid and he has been fine, but we use it to nutralize the acid for when he has his throw up episodes.
hope you can find out some answers.
