View Full Version : Vent settings from Pressure Controlled to Volume Controlled Vent

Hannah is currently using a pressure controlled ventilator. My husband and I are already used with the parameters of pressure-controlled vent settings (for example: PIP, PEEP, Inspiratory time, Expiratory time and fio2).
By January, with God's grace, we might be able to purchase HT-50 (if am not mistaken, is a volume-controlled vent)...
though i know Hannah's doctor will do the setting for us...i just want to ask if you know how to convert the settings from a pressure controlled vent to a volume controlled.
For instance, here are the settings of Hannah's current vent:
PIP = 15
PEEP = 5
RR = 30
fi02 = 30%
i am not fully knowledgeable about tidal volume, etc.
would you guys know how Hannah's setting will be with the HT-50 given her setting with the current vent?
thanks so much!!!:)

I think someone on this board has used that vent, but not sure. There is a basic equation, but I can't remember it and it's so much volume per Kilo. I think he had a tidal volume of about 70 or 80 when he was about 10kilos.

thanks for the replies! :)
we'll just wait for the vent to arrive...and pray that everything goes well with the shift.
God bless!

I don't know anything about that particular vent, but my son's pulmonologist keeps his tidal volume around 8-10 ml/kg body weight (he is on a LTV-1150).

Same with us. Emma weights around 30lbs (13.6 Kilo) and our tidal volume is set to 130, we are on the LTV 950.
