I know strange title, but I don't have any other way to explain Natalie's neck. Her stoma looks ok. Slightly red, nothing new there. But her neck is a mess. We used to use traditional string and moleskin, we changed it every other day. We switched about a week ago to Dale duck velcro ties. Seemed to help b/c we changed and washed her neck daily. Now her other side is a mess. Stinky, red, seaty. I don't know what to do. Never had this problem in the hospital. She is actually batting at the side of her neck that is gross. Any and all suggestions welcome please.

? I'm wondering about yeast, keep it clean and dry, try some lotrimin cream.

Never a bad idea to get it looked at, the other thing I would worry about would be a bacterial infection....

I was wondering about yeast too. Tommy's neck will get red, tacky to the touch and stink to high heavens when he's got a yeasty neck. I alternate between nystatin powder or cream one day and then bacitracin or triple antibiotic the next for about a week, washing and drying thoroughly before applying. Fresh ties every 24 hours too.

We use a paste compounded by our pharmacy. It's lidocaine for numbing pain, balmex for protection, and nystatin for yeast control. It works like a charm!! I promise!
Your pedi would have to call it in.
