I was just wondering if having a trach makes you begin teething later. My pediatrician said that Kyrsten is normal, but she has no teeth and is 8 months old. She doesn't even seem to be in pain in her mouth or trying to bite on everything. This is my first child (can you tell? http://www.twinEnterprises.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif ) and I was just wondering about everyone's experience with that.

Lily got her first teeth around 4 months, and she's had her trach since she was 4 weeks old, so I don't think that affected her teeth. Â*She has 6 teeth now and is 11 months old. I have a friend with a "normal" (i.e. untrached) baby who is almost 9 months old and completely toothless; I think there's just a lot of variation.

My oldest (trach-free) sons got their teeth at 14 and 15 months! I took them for x-rays wondering when/if their teeth would ever come through! My youngest with a trach began getting teeth at 8 months. Sue
