For those of you w/ a 3.5 ped trach size, what size sux caths do you use? We are supposed to be downsized from a 4.5 ped after we get an all clear from the bronch in May. We currently use an 8fr- but thinking maybe we would need a 6fr...????
Thanks much!

Tommy used a 5/6 when he had that size. If they are Tracoes, let us know, we might have some. I finally got rid of the 5/6 caths since we did not need them and noone responded to our post a while ago.

we have used 8fr from a 3.5 neo to our current 3.5 ped--both shileys...8fr works just fine.

We have always used 8 fr, even when we had a 3.0 Neo. We TRIED a 6 fr and found them useless-way too small! We're in a 4.0 ped now and stil use 8 fr. Deb

8 FR,Sx to 6 cms

FTR the length totally depends on the trach in question. Some are 5, some could be 7 and some 10.

Ours happens to be 10 with the Bivona Flextend, standard length.
