Do you mean a cuffed or non cuffed trach? a cuffed is one mainly used on someone that is on vent all the time, had balloon on it, no air can get around it. when your off vent you let air out, when on vent put air in it so it tightens up inside. I had one and it hurt all the time. Then my nurses kept trying to talk me into a non cuffed one. I dont like change. It just slides in with no balloon on it. its great. but some air does get around but thats ok. when your in the hospital though they will put a cuffed on back in cuz they want you to be getting l00% of oxygent etc. does that answer your question

yes thanks.
cuffed is cannula with balloon.
my cannula have little cut that air can pass to my vocal cords.
when i was in hospital after check on sleep i needded vent.
cold cold air come into my trach for hours from the machine.
i beg that they will trplace my cannula.
i couldnt stand the coldness air in my trach. it was horrible.
but they didnt want to touch in the recovery room.
after like 12 hours they found a cannula to replace.
i get a cold from this, they didnt understand me
today i will not let it happen again.

Are you on a vent, if so you need a humidifier on the vent. mine is called a consha, it warms up the air and omg it helps so much. when i went into the hospital for a brief three days, they wouldnt do it, i demanded it cuz it takes more time for the respitory ppl to work with it. mine sets on 30, in the hospital they dont like to tinker with it, cuz it goes up and down all the time. that is what my nurses have to mess with everynite. and dont let them tell lyou a nose will help. the nose just collects moisture doesnt give heat. im the only one in my medical suppplier that uses one out of there whole company. dont know why. a most trach is always better. did i answer your question?
