Hello. My name is Klarisa and i have a 2 almost 3 year old daughter. She was born with a Hypoplastic Right Lung (small lung) and it wasnt conected to her heart right. It was causing high blood pressure in her lung and that caused more problems. She was Born Jan. 18, 2005 and was intubated on and off for about 2 1/2 months after that and recieved a g-tube when she was about 2 due to not being able to eat regular from everything instead of using the tube they stick in their nose. Then she was Trached at the beginning of April that year after being intubated for about a month and a half strait. She failed extabation 3 times due to a floppy airway and ulsurations in her trachia. I was so relieved i could finally hold her. It was the toughest thing i have ever been though. Then we tried to get her off the vent. and that didnt work. She finally came home on Oct. 31, 2005. Yes on halloween 8 1/2 months after birth. Enough with that part.... Now she is 2 1/2 years old and off the vent altogether finally for the last 3 weeks. No colds, no breathing problems, and she still sleeps at night. She also doesnt get tube feedings during the day anymore only at night cont. from 10 pm to 9 am. and she eats regular during the day. and we r trying to work on potty training but its going slow. Its been a long almost 3 years but she is doing great. when i was pregnant the dr told me to have an abortion. Good thing i didnt. then they said she wouldnt make it past a few months. then she would make it but not walk she would be bed ridden. then they said she would never get off the vent. then they said she wouldnt speak very well. and so far everything they saied was wrong. She runs, jumps, climbs, and is off the vent. We are hoping that by 5 she wont have the trach and the g-tube anymore. Fingers crossed. But i am used to alot of things now so i am here to talk if anyone needs it. Thanks!:)
