Tammy and Parker

I'm Tammy. Mom to 2.5 year old Parker. Parker was just trached a little over 2 weeks ago. This was a very traumatic experience for him. We are all still trying to adjust.
Parker has been dealing with severely obstructive sleep apnea and when his cpap requirements hit a level of 13 for pressure the ENT and cardiologist decided that a trach was the next and necessary step.
Because of Parker's severely obstructive sleep apnea, bronchotracheal malasia, chronic lung disease, aspiration issues and reflux issues he had developed pulmonary hypertension. The doctors believe that by by passing his collapsing airway his heart will not have to work so hard and his PH levels will recede.
Parker is on a vent at night with a pressure setting of 5 and an airflow of 2 liters. For the first time ever he has gone for almost three weeks and hasn't been sick. He has been satting at 100 each night.
Like I said, we are still a bit shell shocked and trying to adapt to all of this.
And we miss that wonderful thing called sleep. sigh.....
