Is she plugged from secretions, or does she have a cap? I guess it seems good even if she were plugged and wasn't having any distress.....

Yes, I want to know the reason for the plug as well...

but sounds like good news....

Trish, I was just wondering about you today and where you had been. I see now that you've been dealing with plugged trachs! Sounds like a pretty good thing to me. I hope we are all right!

Livi had surgery for Craniosynotosis so we've been busy with that. Lots of pre-surgery appts as it was the 6-month time frame for everything.

Her plugs were because she was dry, not capped. She woke up several times in the am's like that and her highest CO2 was 45 ;)

We are definitely discussing decann and pulm thinks it will happen by the end of this yr. My only concern is her aspiration:eek:

Ii was just thinking if she's plugged, has good gases and is satting better than me, she's more than ready!

But I don't wanna press my luck!:thumb:

Do they know the cause of her aspiration? Keturah's going to start vitalstim therapy soon for her aspiration. Could that be an option for Livi? It's great to see you back and Livi doing so well!

Sarah, I have no idea what that is, but I will definitely look into it. Livi still doesn't get speech because of the great old NCLBA:mad: But she's 2 in a matter of days and she'll be transitioned into the school system for it soon enough.

I did find an independent feeding clinic that's held once a month so I am trying to get her enrolled in that.

Both, but in the hospital. :) She had surgery on the 10th and was plugged a few times but was A-OK.

Fentanyl and Neucuron knocked her out and dry.

It was during her hospital stay. They do both blood cases, then have an ETCO2 monitor inline. They ranged from 35-45. Mainly in the 30's.

Emma has plugged a few times, and I had no clue until I did routine trach chages. She was satting 98-99 but of course nose breathing was never an immeditate problem for her, just when the oral secretions built up and she couldn't breath was it in issue, in the NICU it could take several days for that to happen. Wouldn't you know that the few times she accidently decanned she did destat because she was apneic at the time, good thing she did our the nurses might not have noticed her trach was out

I think that is so awesome that Livi was able to do that! I think a few more tests are in order of course to make sure it wasn't just a one time fluke kind of thing (which it probably was not) but I bet you can talk the big D really soon and that will be so amazing!
