Hi Everyone

Well I guess you could say I'm an old timer on here. http://www.tracheostomy.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rofl.gif

I was born at 24 weeks gestation 33 yrs ago. I had a trach placed at 3 months after being on a vent for the first 3 months. I had a G tube in for the first 3 months also. II had 3 LTPs, 2 failed and one was successful. I was decannulated for the first time when i was 15(1988). I was retrached at the age of 19 (1993) because of more airway issues. We were able to fix the problem and I was decannulated again in 1994.

I am the mother of 4 beautiful children.
Owen 7
Bailey 5
Olivia 5
Hanna 5

I am presently trached right now. I was retrached in Feb of 06. In my situation now the trach will more than likely be permanent. Which i'm ok with. I have a great life even with the trach in.

WOW Robin:

I just read your story and like I have said, you are an inspiration to me as I try to learn how it is to be Joseph. He can't talk and functions at a very low level, you give so much insight to each of us. Thank you for your willingness to help us better understand this journey that our children are on. After all, they are the ones with the trach :trach:

God Bless You,
Roberta
