I just had to share some great news! Today I was holding a picture of my husband and I said 'Who is this?' and Marisa said 'dada'. I was about floored! She has started the normal babbling but never a definite word response. And almost within a minute, her Leapfrog toy said 'bye-bye', and SHE CHIMED IN! When it rains, it pours. And it all seems to be snowballing right before her 2nd birthday. Just brings tears to my eyes after everything she has gone through. These little kids are fighters. We have a long way to go but I feel like we have started to overcome one of several challenges!

Thanks for listening... http://www.tracheostomy.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/inlove.gif

How cool is that Â*http://www.tracheostomy.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif It is exciting and she will just take off from here. Â*As you know, my oldest daughter was born deaf and didn't speak a word until she was about 8 years old. Â*Everyone kept telling us to have patience because once she started talking, she would just keep going. Sure enough, it happened that way! Â*I'm so happy for you. It's nice that life for you guys can now be mostly fun and full of anticipation for Marisa's next accomplishment, rather than dealing with life and death medical issues all the time.

Anyway, a lot of words to say CONGRATULATIONS!

That is so great! Evan's inability to speak with his trach was one of the most devastating things to me of the whole business, so each word he speaks now is a real treasure. Wonderful news!
