Hi - Evan is two years old, very mobile, and sleeps in a crib at home. This is nice because if he wakes up at night when someone has stepped out of the room (we have night nursing), he can't wander dragging his pulse ox, feeding pump, and mist tubing with him.

What kinds of travel cribs would people recommend? I glanced at the Pack N Play in the store, and it looked a little flimsy - Evan definitely would have to sleep in the play pen, not in the little bed that rests in the top. He is 33 inches tall and 26 pounds, and walks and climbs. He is on mist, O2, continuous feeding and a pulse ox at night. We are heading to Cincinnati and will be staying in a Residence Inn there, unless Bridgestreet apartment comes through first. We would love any suggestions.

Thanks, as always.

Laurie check the height/weight recommendations for whatever you get. I think Pak-n-Play is 20 lbs/30 inches. Deb

Laurie-
When we traveled with Evan when he still had his trach we used a Pack and Play-I made a slit in the end big enough for his tubing and pulse ox. Your Evan may be too long for it-I can't remember how tall my Evan was when we went to Florida last year. Its down in my basement-you can borrow it if you want to just see how it works and add more holes if necessary!

I personally don't like the packnplay that much, though this is what I have. I dragged it along on our first 2 trips to Cincinnati and then I just started using the portable cribs that they have in the hotels and at Ronald McDonald. I like how compact the packnplay is for traveling, but it isn't great for having to hang feeding pump bags, pulse ox cords and corrugated tubing over the side. I found that water would pool in the tubing when I had to drape it over the side of the packnplay and if Joel rolled around the wrong way the water went straight in the trach. Well, I hope that helps. You may want to call the hotel and ask if they have cribs and then just check it out really well when you get there.
