Nate's nurse's daughter is an attorney in Orlando who has been court appointed to a case involving a 14 year-old with CP who is quadriplegic and blind. Among other things, she is trying to get a tracking system installed in the child's foster home to assist the family.

The child currently receives Social Security and is on the FL Medicaid Waiver waiting list (I think they lost Medicaid coverage by moving to FL from another state?). The attorney doesn't usually work with special needs and has no clue where to start in looking for resources. I suggested starting with the local UCP but told her I would ask around to see if anyone knows of any other Orlando area agencies that would assist the family.

Thanks in advance!

UCP is a good place to start. Also suggest Children's Medical Services. They provide a broad range of services and support for children with special needs.

Having CP, the child will most likely be placed on the medicaid waiver without much of a wait, but being a foster child I would think he would already receive medicaid.
