Well my suction machine barely has any suction! Ive tried everything! I think...what else shud I try?
1 - Check connections. Is the tubing sealed tightly around the canister? Do the top connectors to the cannister fasten tightly?
2 - Check the cannister. Any visible cracks? Is the lid on all the way?
Those are the two main problems we have. 9 times out of 10 it has to do with the upper connections, the parts that connect the cannister to the machine. If neither seems to be the issue, then I suggest changing the cannister out.

Is the knob to adjust the suction working properly ? Those little buggers always liked to unwind on me when I wasn't paying attention. ;)

Our devillbiss loses suction if the filters get wet or are put in the wrong way....
Is there suction at the machine itself (ie, where the hose connects)?

On occasion we would get cracks on the part that is inside the Devilbiss canister lid. The round part that snaps onto the lid and holds the part in that goes up and down that creates the vacuum. The little "feet" that snap into the lid would break. This happened a lot with certain nurses cleaning the canisters. If that happens then it's not held securely in place the machine will have a weak suction. Hope you figure it out.

If all else fails, start from the cathater and work your way backwards, changing every piece -- the cath, the tubing, the canister and lid, the plastic connection tubing, and the filter (or however your system is set up). If that doesn't work, call your DME for a service call.

Are the caps pushed down all the way on the lid??

I always started with the machine.. with feeling for suction, if it is not there then I play with the knob to adjust (in addition to turning: ours needs pulled out to work?? dont know why but it always happens) if there is suction at the machine, I put back together piece by piece until i figure out which part is loosing the suction and then change that piece out.
we had that problem and it turned out we had water in the fliter and had to get a new filter. Now we always keep an extra filter with us.
