Had a lovely, if cold, time in Florida this past week but made some observations about flying with a trach. On the flight down Ciara had some horrid sats even on the vent (80s for awhile). We then had trouble with plugs for a few days. I really believe this was due to the dryness of the plane. Coming home we used NS bullets before and during the flight and had no problems. Despite the increase airline security, going through was fine even with a vent, a bipap machine, a suction machine, 2 joeys, 2 humidifiers, 2 oximeters, 2 wheelchairs and a nebulizer and all the assorted tubings and meds that go with them. We were through security in less than 10 minutes both ways. If you're considering flying, do it. Karen
Welcome back and I hope your trip was fantastic. I'm glad you didn't get too much hassle from airport security, and even more happy that your newest edition was able to make the trip!

I am glad you had an easy trip. When we flew, Addisyn had some bloody secretions for a couple of days. I also believe it was due to her going from a hot 90 degree climate, to a frigid 40 degree climate. We also had a day without the humidifier because Crapria couldn't figure out what hotel it was, so instead of calling the home office, they decided that we didn't need the equipment.

Glad the trip was fun!! Also good that security was easy--that was always our experience, too.
Yeah! Welcome back! Glad you had fun!!! Sounds like flying was easier than I at least thought. That's good to know.
