I know we talked about this a while back but I can't find the thread/.

Which commercial brands are good for fitting AFOs? What's the brand name for the shoes made specifically for AFOs?

I've been buying Vans all along for the boys, but now their new AFOs just won't fit. Even in a larger size.

Thanks in advance! xo

Sam has Schein boots, they are from Germany but I did find some US websites which mentioned them, just posted this link because this is where we get them from and you can see pics.

good luck with your search.

We use to get vans all the time to. Last time we got Angelo shoes we went to target. He likes the slip on type. The guy who makes the AFO's told us if they were a little tight, just take out the in soul. This has worked great for us.

Piedro boots are also commonly used for kids with CP:

Or this is the company that makes Angus' boots. He has to get the ones for kids who wear AFOs simply to accommodate the massive width of his feet!

Hope that's of some use to you. :)

We've had fairly good luck with Sketchers wide for Keturah's AFO's. She's getting casted tomorrow for her new ones, so hopefully she'll still be good with them when we go to the store.

Livi's are answer 2.

They came with her AFOs.

Everyone seems to love the hatchback shoes. Kara's feet are still too small for them so we haven't been able to try them. http://www.hatchbacksfootwear.com/index.htm

When my boys get new AFOs I take them (the AFOs, don't even need the kids;)) to a cheap shoe store and try on the sneakers with the AFOs. I can usually find an inexpensive pair that work well. Typically, I buy the sneakers a size or two bigger than their feet and I take out the soles, which gives more room for the braces.

Gage received dc shoes for his birthday and it just so happens they are working out wonderfully.

Doh! I must be tired 'cos I didn't read your question properly Kerry. You wanted the names of non-medical shoes - sorry!
