Are you sure the water from the tubing isn't leaking onto his shirt? I'd check the tubing and make sure it doesn't have any water in it. If that isn't the problem, call your home health co. because you might need to adjust the setting again. We had the opposite problem when we were first discharged, and a rep. from our home health co. had to come out twice before it was fixed. Good luck!

After severeal humidifers all which we were told were in working order, and soaked clothing and bedding, fingernails that literally fell off from the humidity (Emma used to have her hands up to her neck area and could not move them) we were at our wits end. We were just about to buy a plain room humidifer and try to get orders for more HME's when we got put on the vent. Thankfully the vent keeps all the humidity enclosed and going where it should, into her lungs.
My only suggestion would be to find the lowest setting possible. Can he use use an hme and do well instead? Our supply company was quick to point you, you have to remember that the humidity is not drawn right to the trach, but also around it a bit due to that collar, so it is normal to have some damping of clothes. Ours were able to be rung out they were so wet within an hour. It was terrible
Good luck, I wasn't much help but just know you aren't alone
When Nathan was little we just changed his jammie tops a lot! We have the same machine. I think it is hard to get the humidity into such a tiny little body. As he gets bigger the shirts will get drier.
