...what kind of tape do you use to attach the probe?

we use the 3M stuff but emily's tummy is getting red and grazed and in some parts inflammed...she has permanent plaster marks too because when we use the orange oil to take it off more often than not she goes bright red and scratchy. i've been leaving the monitor off during naps but obviously that's not ideal because then i need to be close by to keep an eye on her.

any alternatives?

We don't use tape--we use the patches. We could use either--but we just never had luck with the probe sticky things so we've always used the black patches-that way it doesn't stick to him. I'll try and find a picture of them.

Do you have a O2 monitor or just the apnea monitor? We have both-I stopped putting on the apnea monitor at nap..just a pain in the butt especially when the O2 monitor works better anyway. Just a thought--but if you don't have one, that wouldn't work. :)

We have a belt with little rubber electrodes. We also have the sticky electrodes that have the gel like tape. My suggestion is to use tagaderm. We used to use it to tape Addisyn's NG tube to her face. All you have to do is stretch the tape to get it off. I have some to give if you want.

Ours are gel sticky already, just peel and stick. No extra tape involved at all.

Ours was also the gel pad with a snap for the wires...I hope you can find something that works!!

no o2 monitor, just the apnoea.

hadn't thought of tegaderm, though. it used to make her face blotchy when she had her NG tube, but overnight (and withou food underneath it!) is a totally different thing. looking to see if we still have it on repeat prescription.

thanks :-)

don't know if this is of use to anyone else...

we tried tegaderm on emily's apnoea lead but her stomach got all inflammed. our community nurse suggested a new kind of tape last week called MEPITAC. it is absolutely brilliant! really soft, peals off in a flash w/o discomfort, doesn't leave any plaster marks behind...love it!

it's the bottom dressing on the list. "designed to fix drains, tubes, probes, electrodes, IV cannulae and dressings"

I am glad you posted this. We have the hardest time with Luke - his skin is so sensitive. We have been using paper tape, but even that leaves skin abrasions. I will see if I can find Mepitac over here and try it. Thanks!

Hi Clare,
does that tape come in a roll or strips, i was looking but didnt see any info about the way it comes, i would love to try some of that, Kaylie also has extremely sensitive skin, and sometimes she picks and picks at things and makes it worse. i saw they sell it on amazon but i wanted to get a little more feed back first. thanks for posting this..

it's a roll and comes in a small cardboard box.

if you click on the US site i'm pretty sure you can find the details of it there.
