Funny tube change

Yesterday afternoon we did our normal weekly tube change. It was John's turn to put in the new tube. Sam was being a ham as usual and playing us up. He just lay on the floor laughing and waving his arms and legs in the air. Well, I took the old tube out and he just lay there laughing uncontrollably, put his chin on his chest and of course, John couldn't get the new trach in. it was out for a good couple of minutes and Sam was fine, just kept on laughing. John got a little freaked out but then he did get the tube in which made poor Sam cough a lot and throw out loads of gunk. But I am just so excited that the tube was out and he was fine:D Unfortunately the pulm wants us to go through a winter without O2 before we remove the trach, I can understand that, but Sam is so ready to lose that trach now.

What a silly boy! And poor John! He must have had sweaty palms by the end of it. I can understand the Dr wanting to get through a winter without that O2. Hopefully this next spring will be your turn for decan!

That's so great Julie! That's got to be a relief to know that he would be okay if it came out by accident. Spring will be here before you know it. Although if it were me I think every minute would be ticking by in my head. :p Hope you're able to get it off your mind.
